High school sophomores Jillian Bourdage and Brett Roberts, who both volunteer with The First Tee Broward, were honored as the Broward County Girls and Boys Golfers of the Year by the Sun Sentinel newspaper.

Bourdage won the state individual championship and also helped lead American Heritage School in Plantation to the Girls Class 2A team state title. For the season, she led the county with a scoring average of 71 and had the most rounds under par with eight. She volunteers at The First Tee Broward’s Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital program at Pompano Beach Golf Course and the Green Grass program at TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs.

Roberts, who also volunteers with our chapter, plays for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale. He finished second at the Class 3A state tournament, which was the highest individual finish at the tournament in school history. His 18-hole average for the season was 71 and he won the Broward District Championship.

“We are honored to have both Jillian and Brett as members of The First Tee of Broward volunteer team,” said Director of Operations Jack Bloomfield. “Not only are they outstanding players, they are great students who do a phenomenal job helping our coaches and working with our participants.”
